It is high time that we have come into an era where self care is so emphasized that we are not able to look past “not taking care” of ourselves. Of course, it is refreshing to see how we are more concern about our own well-being – be it from the inside or outside. One of the many things that makes my heart melt is how mental health has become one of the essential criteria in self care. Of course because while I was growing up, it was one of the many things that I had to keep hidden because it is too much of a “taboo”.
Middle of August, just couple of months ago, I was given the opportunity to attend another event organized by dear Mamasan through Butterfly Project. I mean, I couldn’t begin to describe the events that Butterfly Project organized over the last one year I have been active in this group and of course, I am truly grateful because this is one of the ways I learn along the experiences that I gain through the events. Let’s get into the topic – Butterfly Health & Wellness Workshop. This is one of a kind workshop – that focuses on mind, body and spirit, at the same time.
The attendees are divided into 3 groups – hence not over crowding the session, given space is also one of the reason but mostly I believe it is to be in a smaller group where we are mostly comfortable. Just like the group, there are 3 sessions too ; focuses on 3 major concerns of the decade **Believe me, it is** . Session 1: Self-Care Session by Minnie Chang Minc.Care
My first session starts with my favorite thing to do ever ! If you don’t know yet – I talk about self care like anything plus I am a counselling student hence you know what makes my heart skips a beat – oh well a quiet group session with some amazing people. I do know some of them but I also see many new faces. Anyways, back to the session, it was pretty much like a group therapy but it was just an easy breezy way to get things of your chest. It was also indeed an introductory to what Minnie does in Minc. Care.
I have been following Minnie on her IG for sometime and meeting her for the first time was truly awe struck moment for me. Back to the session, we were given a post it to write down something that we have always wanted to share – and I did. I was a little nervous because what I have written was quite personal to me and only known to people that are SUPER lose to me but then I also realize, that is how healing happens. Honestly, it almost seemed like the universe’s calling when this was my session as I actually missed out the actual first session for me (Aromatherapy Oil-blending Workshop).
This session opened up a whole new perspective for me – I mean few of us got to share our stories, including myself and that’s when I realize there is always more than what one choose to show. I learned that there is always a silver lining that we need to seek for and nevertheless, life is a beautiful amazing journey that we should embrace.

2. Vegan Beauty Mask Workshop by Bavani Gopala Krishnan Naturally Handmade.
Beauty masks isn’t new to me specially making them from raw products. If you grew up in an Indian household – you’d be exposed to this from your early adolescent years. However, the kind of products that I have been using was literally picked from the Indian grocery store – beauty tips passed down from generations before me so I don’t really know what is the use of each ingredient. This workshop was quite informative on the products, where I get to DIY my own masks based on my skin needs.
Following are the ingredients I have picked for my mask :
French Green Clay : Often known as sea clay or marine is super absorptive which helps to draw out toxin AKA perfectly detoxifying element for your skin. My skin suffers from discoloration and it lost its “natural freshness” because I have been lazy on the skin care routine for a long time now hence I need this to eliminate dead cells.
Pomegranate : It hydrates and protects my skin from pollutants and other environmental toxins. It restores the pH balance of the skin. The ellagic acid present in the peels lock moisture in my skin.
Aloe Vera Powder : With anti-inflammatory and cooling properties, Aloe Vera powder is the perfect remedy for sunburned skin. It provides a protective layer to the skin which helps retain moisture. Aloe is also rich in antioxidants and minerals which can help speed healing.
3. Aromatherapy Oil-blending Workshop by Dashindra Siva Plant Origins.
Since I have missed the first session – I managed to get a brief session on the aromatherapy session with Dash – who is also known as Dainty Dash Beauty on Instagram and Facebook. I was also give a bottle of my own DIY aromatherapy oil. Just like the mask earlier – I got to choose the kind of essential oil I would like to be diffused into a bottle. Since I have been super stressed recently due to overworking, I delicately selected specific essential oil from Plants Origins as following :
Jasmine Essential Oil : Helps to overcome stress, improve mood and balancing the hormone. This actually helps to relieve some affects of depression and anxiety – where it calms the mind.
Rose Geranium Essential : This can be used for face as it helps to minimize appearance of enlarged pores but I have selected this one for relaxation as it also said Rose Geranium helps with mood stability and promoting optimism.
Vetiver Essential Oil : Due to Vetiver’s calming, grounding effect on the emotions, it is an ideal oil to use in massage therapy. It can also be rubbed on the feet before bedtime to promote a restful night’s sleep. Also, it has stronger scent than the other two essential oils.
4. The Spa & Gym Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
Selecting the right gym is so essential – specially if you going to pay for a whole year. There are many factors that you have to look at – from location to parking access, then the facilities, classes, packages and a lot more before you are committed to one. Basically, for someone like me – I have a full time job and also a part time social media manager which means I have a very short period of time between my jobs to hit the health room – and plus it got to be easy in the pocket. During the last visit – I was enlighten to see what The Spa & Gym Hilton Kuala Lumpur had to offer. Check out my findings as below :
This is a state-of-the-art comfortable gym I would say – as everything is at an accessible distance. Also, I love how open it is because I hate working out in a small, closed area as it usually ends with me having tremendous headache and avoiding to visit the gym – AGAIN. I would definitely invest in this facility when I am truly committed to getting into gym mode (just being honest here – hehehe)
